Document How to manually remove a game from your hard drive
In some cases, it may be necessary to delete a downloaded GameTap title from your hard drive without the use of the Games manager on GameTap.com. To do so, you must first locate your saved games folder in either one of the following default locations or, if you've changed your location by following the instructions in this article, the custom location specified in C:\Program Files\GameTap Web Player\bin\release\local.config.

Default game download locations
XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GameTap Web Player\games\
Vista - C:\ProgramData\GameTap Web Player\games\

In your game download folder, you will see a list of numbered folders. Each of these represents a game on the service that you have downloaded. You can typically determine which folder contains the game you are looking for by inspection of the files in each folder, such as the contents of the Content.txt file stored with most PC games.  Typically, numbers beginning with 12 are in-browser emulated games, while numbers beginning with 00, 13, or 15 are native PC games.  Please contact support if you are having trouble locating the ID number associated with your game.

If you would like to preserve your game progress and settings, and if the numbered folder for the game begins with 00 or 13, you may do so at this time by copying the CH1.ix and CH1.dat files to a different folder before deleting the originals. GameTap recommends either making a folder outside of the GameTap directory, named after the game you are preserving, or simply using an archiving format like ZIP to contain both files. In either case, be sure you label the storage of these CH1 files so you know to which game they belong.

You may now delete the game folder to remove it permanently from you hard drive.

GameTap also stores information for some games in the Windows registry. To completely remove a game and prevent problems should you decide to download the game again, you will need to completely remove the registry key for the game.

WARNING: Editing the registry is a delicate operation and can leave your computer non-functional. GameTap holds no responsibility for damage to your computer or loss of data.

NOTE: Not all games store information in the registry.  In particular, the following steps are needed only for games whose ID numbers (i.e. the nine-digit number from the folder above) start with 15.

1.) You must have administrator priveleges to edit the registry.

2.) Close all browser windows and ensure that GameTapPlayer.exe is not running by using the Task Manager.

  - Click Start
  - Click Run
  - Type taskmgr into the Run field
  - Click the Processes tab
  - Look for GameTapPlayer.exe
  - If you find the process running, right click on GameTapPlayer.exe and select End Process
  - Close the Task Manager

3.) Open the Windows Registry Editor

  - In XP, click your Start Menu, then Run, type in regedit and click OK.
  - In Vista, click your Start Menum then type regedit in the search bar.

4.) Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Yummy Interactive, Inc.\Player\Applications\

5.) With the Applications key selected, choose the child key for the game you are deleting.  The correct key can typically be determined by inspecting the name of the key or by confirming that the Exe and MountPoint values for the key contain the path to the game you've just deleted.  Please contact GameTap support if you are not sure which key to delete.

6.) Once you've determined the correct key and selected it (if the key is selected, you will see a long list of values in the right pane--if you only see (Default), it is likely that you have the wrong key!) you may optionally choose to backup the key in case of error.  To backup the selected key, choose Export... from the File menu. Choose a suitable name and location for your backup file so that you may easily find it later and click Save to backup the registry data.

  - If you back up the registry key, you may restore it at any time by locating the file, right-clicking, and selecting Merge from the popup menu.

7.) Delete the selected key by choosing Delete from the Edit menu.

8.) Close the Windows Registry Editor.

Note: If you backed up your game saves earlier and download the game again, you may restore your saves by downloading the game to 100%, then overwriting the newly created CH1 files with your previously saved copies.
