Document Error Launching Game: Network drives X: and Y: must not be mapped [Error: 4109]
The 4109 error is not necessarily a problem with your X: and Y: drives already being mapped, but an inability for GameTap to access them. Our development team is already searching for a more conclusive answer to this issue. In the mean time, we are asking our customers to try these simple troubleshooting tips apologize for this error and hope to have a permanent fix soon.
  1. Please be sure that there is not a physical disk in your disk drive. Sometimes, even an audio CD can cause this error.
  2. Check for any CD emulation software that may be running in the background and disable them. This includes Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120 and any CD burning software.
  3. Please be sure your browser is running as an administrator.
  4. Please be sure that all security settings - including Antivirus, Firewall, and phishing filters - are not blocking GameTap's access to your computer
If the previous solutions did not work, it is possible that something is using the X and Y drives on your computer, such as a camera or printer. GameTap requires the use of X and Y drive letter assignments when emulating Windows®-PC games.

Important Note: If you have a Physical hard drive or partition mapped to X or Y it is VERY IMPORTANT to note the following:
  • If there are programs installed to the drive or partition and the drive letter is changed, any Start Menu entries or short-cuts created for those programs will no longer point to a valid location.
  • You will still be able to access any data stored on your drive but your Start Menu entries and short-cuts will need to be redirected to the new location. This can be done by clicking the entry or short-cut and when Windows indicates it can no longer find the file, click the Browse button, then point to the new location/drive letter.
Disconnect a mapped network drive
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop or click Start->My Computer (WinXP).
  2. Locate the X: and/or Y: drive.
  3. Right-click and select Disconnect Network Drive.
  4. The letter assignment will be released.
To map a network drive
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop or click Start->My Computer (WinXP).
  2. Select Tools at the top of the window and select Map Network Drive.
  3. Select the Browse button to point to the location and name of the drive to which you want to connect.
  4. Now click Finish.
